The season of Yule, originally a twelve-day festival marking the winter solstice and celebrated by northern European peoples, has given us many traditions we still share worldwide at Christmas: the tree, wreaths, feasting, and gathering with family and friends to celebrate a significant event in the year. Of course, music is a significant part of any celebration. This season of emergence from dark, difficult times into the light, of giving and receiving, of love and family, has inspired many writers and composers for over a thousand years. The Peterborough Singers continue their tradition of initiating the season with various choral selections, along with the mighty organ and brass, and with a chance, for you to sing along and get into the spirit of Yuletide Cheer!
