Looking to plan a summer filled with fun but not sure where to start? Look no further. We are taking the guesswork out of creating a summer filled with memorable moments and exceptional experiences by unearthing the hidden gems right here in Peterborough & the Kawarthas.
Explore with the Family…
“I’m bored.” Words that haunt every parent in the summer months. Be a boredom buster this summer while discovering something wonderful in your own backyard.
The Children’s Garden at Ecology Park
Connect with nature at Peterborough Green-up’s Ecology Park. This 5 acre park has lots of opportunities for hands-on learning about making the world a greener place, including a cedar maze, “green” play house, and interactive gardens. It is also just a stone’s throw from canoe rentals and playground at Beavermead Park, and the splashpad at Roger’s Cove.
Something Different at the Zoo
A favourite Peterborough attraction is the Riverview Park & Zoo. You may already be familiar with their splash pad, fully-accessible playground and train ride. Do you have older kids? Take them to check out the 9-basket disc golf course alongside the Otonabee river (BYOF – bring your own frisbee).
Scottish Tea at Hutchison House Museum
It doesn’t get much sweeter and more nostalgic than a summertime tea party. Stop by Hutchison House Museum and enjoy teatime on the terrace with their Scottish Tea featuring lemonade, tea, scones and oatcakes.
Take a Hike (or try Spelunking) at the Warsaw Caves
Looking for a great way to cool off on a hot summer day? Check out the Warsaw Caves! These glacier-formed caves are quite a bit cooler than the air temperatures and there is also a wonderful family swimming area to beat the heat.
There is an endless variety of attractions and experiences to explore (and hidden gems to discover).
