The Trent Valley Archives is a small library of rare and limited edition books containing material related to local history, emigration, and ‘everyday life’.

This group offers many fascinating tours throughout the year, mostly in the summer and fall. From ghost walks, to pub crawls, to tours that focus on specific people or neighbourhoods, their tours are sure to delight any history or culture buff. You can stop by the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Visitor Centre to pick up a list of their upcoming events or go to their website to see which tours are available.
For the Literary Tourist: Tourists with a literary focus will love their collection of columns written by Robertson Davies when he worked for the Peterborough Examiner. They recently obtained a small collection of St. John Players playbills and programs that reference Davies and his wife Brenda. In honour of his 100th birthday TVA presented a Robertson Davies tour – described by TVA Archivist, Elwood Jones “looking at how Davies engaged with Peterborough and how Peterborough engaged with him, or didn’t.” While you’re visiting these fine folks, don’t forget to check out their bookshop which features books on local history (including authors that lived in the area), some of which are published by Trent Valley Archives.
