Petroglyphs Provincial Park offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy Canada’s largest concentration of Indigenous rock carvings. The carvings are made onto exposed marble bedrock and are known as “The Teaching Rocks”, holding deep spiritual, cultural, and historical significance. Visitors can learn more about the history and culture of the park by heading to the Learning Place Visitor Centre, where they can discover and delve into the traditions and culture of the Ojibway (Nishnaabe) people.
Beyond the Petroglyphs, the park hosts McGinnis Lake, a rare meromictic (permanently stratified) lake whose blue-green coloring might be more familiar in tropical landscapes. This meromictic lake is one of only a handful in the country.
