Handel’s Messiah is beloved for too many reasons to count, but to name a few: the “Hallelujah” chorus, the tenor soloist singing “Comfort ye,” the agility of the choir with “All we like sheep have gone astray,” the trumpet and bass soloist interacting in spectacular fashion for “The trumpet shall sound,” the reassurance of “I know that my redeemer liveth” by the soprano soloist and the monumental concluding “Amen” chorus.
