5 Day Stone Carving Workshop

This 5-day workshop will provide you with the time required to create a more complex and challenging stone carving. Whether you are fairly new to carving or have many years of experience, in this week-long workshop your instructor will help you to develop your design ideas, problem solve, improve your skills, use new tools and provide you with guidance as you refine and finish your sculpture.

Rice Lake Arts have a great supply of Zimbabwean stone in a variety of sizes and shapes available for purchase on the first day of the workshop at $4/lb. Workable by hand, vibrant in colour when polished, this stone is highly sought after by sculptors worldwide. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring one of your own stones.

All carving tools, protective gear (goggles/gloves, dust masks, sandbags) and finishing materials are provided. If you have your own tools we encourage you to bring them along.

This workshop is Monday to Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm each day.
