Here in Peterborough & the Kawarthas, we welcome winter with open arms. That’s probably why there are so many wonderful ways to celebrate the season throughout the area. Check out these must-see winter events in Peterborough & the Kawarthas!

Come together as a community for the various Santa Claus Parades happening all over the county:

Apsley Santa Claus Parade and Celebrations – November 30 at 6:00pm

Douro-Dummer Santa Claus Parade – November 30 at 5:00pm

Havelock Santa Claus Parade – November 23 at 6:30pm

Keene Santa Claus Parade – December 14 at 10:00am

Lakefield Santa Claus Parade – November 17 at 1:00pm

Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade – December 7 at 4:30pm

Buckhorn Holiday Home Tour – November 24

Tour five homes in the area that are all dressed up inside for the Christmas season. Afterwards, visit the Buckhorn Community Centre for complimentary tea and stop by the Country Christmas Market for various goodies.

Lakefield Holiday House Tour – November 29 – December 1

Kick start your Christmas celebrations by visiting some fabulous locations in Lakefield including decorated private houses, a church, Santa’s workshop, and the Festival of Trees.

Peterborough Snofest Winter Carnival – January 19 – 25

January is full of winter celebrations. With such a wide variety of events including Snofest Discovery Day, Snofest Idol Contest, and Snofest Winter Carnival Day this event is guaranteed to help you enjoy the chilliest time of year.

Elmhirst’s Snowkite Weekend – January 24 – 26

The purpose of this event is to widen the circle of enthusiasm for Snowkiting, to help new Kiters network and find avenues to progress, to introduce Rice Lake as a riding area, & to share the stoke.

ReFrame Film Festival – January 23 – 26

ReFrame celebrates the latest works created by filmmakers from our community, Canada, and around the world. Selecting films that will entertain, engage and inspire you!

Polarfest – January 31 – February 2

The City of Peterborough isn’t the only place to have some fun this winter. The township of Selwyn brings you PolarFest in early February. This event invites you to join a whole host of exciting activities. From speed skating to ice carving, to pond hockey; this event truly celebrates all of the activities that make winter in Peterborough & the Kawarthas so special.

Family Ice Fishing Day – February 15 – 17

Have you ever wanted to try to your hand at ice fishing? On Family Day weekend the OFAH holds their Family Ice Fishing Day where you can experience ice fishing for free! Take the whole family out to their designated location and don’t worry about what to bring; fishing equipment and bait are provided for you.
