All I Want for Christmas … is to be in Peterborough & the Kawarthas!
Of course, your first stop will be at the Christmas Store at Craftworks at the Barn. Spend your morning exploring these two buildings for gifts, or Christmas decor for the occasion. This Christmas Store is open year-round for Christmas enthusiasts to explore at any time throughout the year.
Our next stop is Lakefield which has quaint shops to find gifts for everyone on your list (and a little something for you!). Head into The English Potter for some handmade pottery or stop by Tragically Hipp Fashion Gallery and Stuff Store to find unique items for the person who has everything. Trinkets and Treasures is a great place to find a re-purposed or antique piece fit for anyone’s home or cottage. And who wouldn’t love to try gourmet treats from the Chocolate Rabbit in their stocking? Come and watch chocolates and candies being made daily and be sure to take some home with you!
Worked up an appetite? Well luckily, Lakefield has a variety of great eats! Try The Nutty Bean Café: they offer freshly baked breads, muffins, and scones for breakfast, along with fabulous soups, sandwiches and salads for lunch. Feeling like something a little more hardy? Visit The Canoe & Paddle, a proper English Pub with a great view of the Otonabee River. Enjoy your meal, as you watch the hustle and bustle of the village just outside. Make sure to leave enough time to grab dessert from Lakefield Bakery on Queen to enjoy on the drive to Lockside Trading Company to see their winter merchandise, browse Christmas sales and specials, and snap a picture with Santa. Say Cheese!
If it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, enjoy the falling snow with a beautiful walk through Millennium Park, or even a skate on the canal. Now it’s time for a long winter’s nap – choose from a variety of accommodations within the City of Peterborough including Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn, Hampton Inn Peterborough, or the downtown Peterborough Inn & Suites to grab some much-needed rest.
Time for lunch! Why not treat yourself to something exciting at Jasmine Thai Cuisine? This first-class authentic Thai experience is located right in the heart of downtown, so hang up your shopping bags and take a little break from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping.
One final stop should definitely help you cross everyone off your Christmas list. Spend your afternoon surrounded by deals at Lansdowne Place, which features over 100 retailers & services, including holiday pop-ups, to help find gifts for everyone.
Oh, what fun it is to ride, in a one-horse open sleigh! The best way to finish off your visit will be with a horse-drawn carriage from Lunn’s Horse Drawn Carriage Services. Be sure to make your reservations ahead of time for your family or group to visit around Millbrook and leave with a better understanding of Peterborough reality #ThisisLiving
