Experience Spring in Peterborough & the Kawarthas

After the stillness of winter, the world comes alive in springtime.

Peterborough & the Kawarthas is a perfect destination to go with the flow in the early days of spring as ice melts into running waters on our region’s waterways, maple syrup makers bring people together to share in a quintessentially Canadian tradition, and simple moments are shared with your nearest and dearest over brunch. Whether you’re coming for an easy day trip, or staying a night or two, put some spring in your step as you scout out your new favourite places.

The snow has melted and it’s time for you to get back outside. After a cold Canadian winter, spring is for reconnecting with nature and our trails are one of the best places to start that adventure. Any direction you tread on a trail in Peterborough & the Kawarthas is going to help you feel at one with the outdoors. Looking for some of our favourite spots to explore in the spring? Meander through Jackson Park or see the spring run-off at Burleigh Falls. You won’t leave our trails without your thirst for adventure quenched.

Wake up that garden you put to bed last autumn. Whether you’re looking for new garden accessories or just taking some time to smell the roses, there are ideas at every turn. Follow the Garden Route – your path to specialty growers, fabulous display gardens, and boutiques. Looking to make a weekend of it? Visit in early April and make the Peterborough Garden Show a stop.

Is there truly any sweeter way to spend your day indulging than in one of nature’s tastiest treats? You owe it to yourself to take advantage of the flowing tree sap! Head out to McLean’s Berry Farm & Sugarbush for Maplefest weekends in March and enjoy the maple syrup experience from tap to taste. Enjoy the ultimate in Canadian flavour this spring in real Canadian cottage country.

Lambing at Harley Farms

Baby animals in the spring will put a smile on your face. Escape from the city with a trip to beautiful Harley Farms. Located in Keene, this farm has been family-owned and operated since 2000. With a focus on sustainable agriculture, they have been able to provide a happy, care-free environment that is home to hundreds of animals. Each spring they host a Lambing event, where you might even be able to bottlefeed one of their babies. You’ll leave Harley Farms just as happy and relaxed as the animals who live there.

What better way to start your weekend getaway with a stop for brunch at one of Peterborough & the Kawarthas many fantastic establishments? Stop in at Two Dishes Cookshop for a unique and tantalizing brunch menu right in the heart of downtown Peterborough. Adventure to Millbrook and stop in for an eggs benny at the Pastry Peddler. Vegetarian or vegan dining your vibe? Enjoy a delicious made-in-house brunch from Nateure’s Plate! Wherever you end up going you’ll leave already planning your next trip back.
