DESCRIPTION:“We call it Feeding the Fire\,” Uncle quietly offers…\nThe Mountain Dene are naturally of a world apart\, in its way separate from our usual worldly cares and woes.\nTo keep it alive is an education in itself. – Antoine Mountain \n“Ets’ehch’I; Traditional Dene Burial Practices” is comprised of twenty-one paintings by Dene artist\, Antoine Mountain\, that share depictions taken from stories\, beliefs\, and traditions as an epistemological tool of Dene resurgence. \nAntoine Mountain is Dene\, North American First Nations\, originally from Radelie Koe/Fort Good Hope\, of the Dene Nation\, in northern Canada. His hometown is just a few miles from the Arctic Circle. In addition to his writing and scholarship\, Mountain is a painter primarily working in acrylics across a number of styles with Impressionist influence. The colours of the North and deep-rooted spiritualism inform his approach to depicting landscape\, portraits\, and figurative scenes.

DESCRIPTION:Interconnected is a solo exhibition of work by Stan Olthuis. Grounding the entire project is Mira la Vida\, a large-scale kinetic sculpture comprised of two eight-foot intersecting discs representing the elements of our world: water\, earth\, fire\, and air. \nStan Olthuis is a Canadian multi-disciplinary visual artist currently based in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. His work is driven by an ongoing curiosity of our relationship to the world around us. Often reinterpreting persistent symbolisms such as sacred geometry\, Olthuis explores spatial tension and interaction through abstract shapes and audience provocations powered by a colourful palette.

Pretzel Logic is a nine-piece band whose dedicated members play with a passion the music of Steely Dan\, whose legendary hits include: “Reelin’ in the Years”\, “Josie”\, and “Peg”. \nSince 1992\, Pretzel Logic has been executing their special interpretation and presentation of Steely Dan’s music.  Pretzel Logic has been consistently filling two of Toronto’s most important live music rooms\, The Orbit and Timothy’s for several years.  The band becomes even more dynamic when they do festivals and have a bigger stage to facilitate their higher energy performances.  It is remarkable how easily the band delivers Steely Dan’s complex yet intoxicating arrangements.  Combine strong players on every chair with excellent vocals and you have one of the most dynamic tribute bands to ever hit the stage. \nThe music of Steely Dan crosses many musical boundaries. From their jazzy horn lines and smooth vocals\, to rock guitar licks and funky grooves\, their appeal is wide ranging. DESCRIPTION:Set in the ocean-side\, fishery town of 1960’s Steveston\, British Columbia\, Iris takes us back to her 12-year-old self\, and what she describes as “the last few days of her childhood”. Preoccupied with the impending Cuban Missile crisis\, and the obvious strain in her parents’ marriage\, Iris is convinced that the death of her goldfish\, Amahl\, must have brought on these troubles. \nAfter finding a mysterious man washed up on the beach and bringing the elusive stranger home\, Iris becomes more and more convinced that she knows who he really is…and that he can restore what has been broken with the magic of his presence. Peering into this family “goldfish bowl” will find you incredulous\, laughing\, possessed of a deep sense of recognition\, and aware of the great healing power of the imagination.
