SUMMARY:Marilyn Goslin: The Character of Place
DESCRIPTION:ECCO Art Gallery Studios is pleased to present The Character of Place\, a new exhibition by acclaimed artist Marilyn Goslin\, on view September 23 through October 25\, 2026\, with an Opening Reception on Saturday\, September 26.\nThe exhibition marks a particularly special homecoming for Goslin\, representing her first exhibition in the area since relocating to Bracebridge\, Ontario. For those familiar with Marilyn and her work\, her return offers a welcome opportunity to reconnect with an artist who has long been part of the region’s creative community.\nIn The Character of Place\, Goslin explores the landscapes\, environments and moments that give a place its distinctive identity. Her work goes beyond simply recording a scene\, capturing instead the atmosphere\, personality and emotional connection we develop with the places around us.\nThere is an intimacy to Goslin’s approach to landscape. Familiar settings become an opportunity to consider not only what a place looks like\, but what it feels like to be there. How light\, season\, colour and memory can transform our experience of the natural world.\nThe exhibition’s title\, The Character of Place\, speaks to this enduring fascination. Each work invites viewers to spend time with a landscape and discover the individual qualities that make it memorable.\nFor ECCO Art Gallery Studios\, welcoming Marilyn back to the area makes this exhibition especially meaningful. \n“Marilyn has such a strong connection to this region\, and there are so many people here who know both her and her work. Having her return for her first exhibition since her move feels like a real homecoming\, and we are incredibly pleased to be presenting The Character of Place at ECCO.” \nThe public is warmly invited to join Marilyn and the gallery for the Opening Reception on Saturday\, September 26\, and to experience the exhibition throughout its run.
