SUMMARY:Award-Winning Artists\, Kasador Comes To ERBEN
DESCRIPTION:Kasador has accomplished great things in a short span of 7 years – their debut record Brood & Bloom (was produced by Rob Baker of The Tragically Hip) brought them their first radio success\, and they joined forces with Brett Emmons of The Glorious Sons to co-write and produce our sophomore record “Youth”\, which has since led them to a number of support slots with Canadian greats The Tea Party\, Tom Cochrane\, The Glorious Sons and recently\, Finger Eleven. \nKasador is excited to share their newly released single “Come Over” which was released on Nov 10 just as they embarked on an international tour\, as of November 4th performing their own shows as well\, shows in direct support of Gold and Platinum-selling\, Juno and SOCAN Award-winning Canadian icons\, Finger Eleven. \nOn the heels of their sophomore LP “Youth” (June 2\, 2023)\, just as Kasador were hitting full sprint\, they’ve released their follow-up single “Come Over” on November 10th. \n“Come Over” tells the story of a complex and emotionally turbulent relationship in which both parties are torn between wanting and not wanting the other’s presence. The song offers a raw and introspective exploration of the intricacies of human connection – how desire and fear are ever-present complications to finding deep and genuine connection. The band have continued their partnership with The Glorious Sons’ frontman Brett Emmons\, co-writing and producing the ethereal pop-rock anthem with the enigmatic singer. \nKasador is a Kingston\, Ontario band who have never been scared of change and the three friends at Kasador’s core—Cam Wyatt (vocals/guitar)\, Boris Baker (bass)\, and Stephen Adubofuor (drums)—have been through a lot of it. They’ve woven years of tumult through their mid-20s into something powerful and real: a tight-knit\, sincere\, and caring rock and roll band. \nIn June 2023 they released “Youth”\, their sophomore LP about youth\, memory\, relationships\, and how the relentless passage of time shapes and constantly reshapes all of those things. It’s a bright\, punkish\, emotional guitar-rock record that ultimately tracks the process of learning to be okay with not being okay. Since the release\, the band have been drawing lots of attention for their raw and honest sound\, captivating high energy live performances\, and stunning visuals – the music video for single Lock On won Best Music Video at the 2023 Kingston Canadian Film Festival.

SUMMARY:throughlines: 2024 Juried Members’ Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Artspace is kicking off its 50th anniversary year is an exhibition dedicated to their valued membership! \nThroughlines: 2024 Juried Members’ Exhibition proudly presents the work of 20 of Artspace Members\, including a media arts installation in Gallery 2 co-presented with ReFrame Film Festival. On the commencement of this milestone year\, we asked artists to submit work imbued with a look back and a look forward\, while asking ourselves\, what are the most consistent traits of our membership? What are those characteristics that draw artists to artist-run culture. What are the throughlines? \nThe threads that characterize the last five decades of artist-run culture at Artspace\, however tangled or pristinely woven\, heart-achingly water-damaged or painstakingly archived\, are the relationships that built and continually reinvent Artspace. These relationships\, whether captured and retold as linear and well-documented narratives or as an ever-evolving patchwork of memories and vision\, will unfold well into the future. \nIn contemplating this milestone year\, it is natural – a default – to retell the familiar stories of our beginnings. And\, we will tell those compelling and valuable stories. But there are and there will be others. \nEvery Artspace membership represents an influence into what Artspace can become. How can we ensure that the insights and wisdom of voices previously unheard are woven into the fabric of our story? This is a line of thought we’re giving lots of energy these days. \nParticipating Artists:\nAlexandra Box\, Samantha Chiusolo\, Marta Chudolinska\, Brad Copping\, Garrett Gilbart\, Lesley Givens\, Theresa Godin\, Christopher Green\, Laura Honsberger\, Ann Jaeger\, Tim Laurin\, Jane Lowbeer\, Jeff Macklin\, Joseph Muscat\, Rob Niezen\, Kelly O’Neill\, Laura Paluck\, Lynda Todd\, Jane Wild\, and Nikoiya Wile

SUMMARY:seams and strata
DESCRIPTION:As the Art Gallery of Peterborough enters its 50th anniversary year in 2024\, we are digging into our archives and reconnecting with our founders to engage with our past. Looking through old photographs and archives offers us a chance to marvel at where we’ve been and where we’ve come from; at what has changed and what remains. Sifting through filing cabinets packed with layers of paperwork\, notes\, and images feels a bit like an archeological dig. We make careful work of it\, pausing when we unearth something precious\, like a handwritten letter on fine paper or a photograph with younger versions of familiar faces. \nThis juried exhibition invited artists to submit original works of art that resonate with themes of legacy\, archives\, nostalgia\, ghosts\, memory\, survival\, and growth. \nTree rings and stratified rock mark the passage of time and changing conditions\, like layers of once fashionable wallpaper. The strata of our lives can be studied and excavated\, unleashing seams of joy\, curiosity\, wonder\, or grief. Throughout three ramps and the main gallery\, works by fifty-five artists bring forward the findings of their own excavations.

SUMMARY:Winter Theatre: Love Letters
DESCRIPTION:LOVE LETTERS by A. R\, Gurney\, an American playwright\, novelist and academic\, is a play about a 55 year relationship developed and maintained by letter writing. Andy and Melissa\, born between WW 1 and WW 2\, begin writing to each other as early as grade 2 and continue all their lives into their 60’s\, highlighting their joys\, passions\, disappointments and struggles. \nBecause the dialogue of this poignant\, intimate and nostalgic play is reflective of time through the ages\, the language is not always appropriate for our current times.

SUMMARY:Craig Cardiff
DESCRIPTION:Craig Cardiff is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Known throughout Canada\, Craig is developing a following throughout North America and into Europe. With guitar in hand\, Craig can turn any setting into an intimate affair. Infusing his music and lyrics with an uncompromising humanism rarely seen in today’s production-heavy climate. \nSongwriter\, troubadour\, Craig Cardiff builds landscapes of sound using live digital loops\, bringing the room to a hush. Edged\, folk\, beautiful\, melancholy and left leaning\, one song breaks your heart\, and the next one puts it back together. \nCraig makes it a point to keep the relationship with his fans personal\, inviting and accepting any opportunity to make his audience as much a part of the performance as he is.
