DESCRIPTION:“In waterways\, there is a constant flow of intergenerational knowledge passing through the lakes\, rivers and oceans; every body of water holds a spirit\, a history and informs the land.” – Shannon Webb-Campbell \n“Watershed\,” is a group exhibition at the Art Gallery of Peterborough featuring the work of Mary Anne Barkhouse\, John Boyle\, Brad Copping\, Liz Magor\, Stan Olthuis\, Amanda Strong\, and Olivia Whetung. \nContemplating wetlands and beaver dams\, the Trent-Severn Waterway and canoes\, “Watershed” considers the ways in which power dynamics teeter at the surface of the water.

DESCRIPTION:Works from the Youth Art Mentorship Program\nFeaturing local youth artists: Masinjah Aloh\, Ruby Carbert\, Annabelle Diamond\, Artemis Lishman\, and Jace McIntyre \nThis exhibition is the culmination of the 2023/24 Youth Art Mentorship Program. Now in its third year\, this program provides an opportunity for artists at the end of their high school careers to work with an artist-mentor\, developing work for exhibition at the Art Gallery of Peterborough. \n“Figuring Identity: declarations and dreams” includes paintings and sculptural works speaking to where these artists have come from\, where they’re going\, and how it feels to be here now. \nFunding for this project was made possible by a grant from the PCVS Legacy Fund within the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough.

SUMMARY:Buckhorn Festival of the Arts 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Buckhorn Festival of the Arts brings professional\, world-renowned artists from across Canada to the park-like setting of the Buckhorn Community Centre. This event originated as the first fundraising event in 1978 to help pay for the mortgage on the original buildings and land. Today\, the show is known as one of the country’s premier events. \nNot only does the show feature professional artists\, but there’s also an Amateur Art Competition\, Art Activity Zone\, exhibit of youth art\, and live music. As well\, an annual Special Exhibit is curated by a committee of artists to bring something unique to each year’s event. \nExperience a weekend of art\, music\, food and great company at the 2024 Buckhorn Festival of the Arts on Saturday\, August 17\, 2024 from 10am to 5pm; Sunday\, August 18\, 2024 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is by donation.

SUMMARY:Springville Market Summer Fun Family Event
DESCRIPTION:Springville Market Ontario Canada will have over 20 vendors on Sunday August 18 from 11am-3pm. Brian Tisdale will be entertaining on the patio. Springville Tap N’ Grill will be open and serving awesome food and drinks.  Our family activity centre will have the jumping castle and face painting by Jessica Walton\, Giant Jenga and Connect 4 as well as crafts. We are a pet friendly event so bring your furbabies and enjoy the day \nArtistic Pathways “Breaking barriers one step at a time” will be serving ice cream with some new specials as well as fresh local syrup and honey. All net proceeds help support the individuals running the booth.
