DESCRIPTION:For centuries\, puppetry has been a practiced artform across the globe. Marionettes are a lively medium for sharing stories\, animating myths and legends\, and for entertaining audiences. The Peterborough Puppet Guild was founded in 1953 and operated for over a decade\, performing as well as hosting marionette-building workshops. \nOn display at the Peterborough Museum & Archives are selections of marionettes from the Peterborough Puppet Guild’s vast collection\, set within themed vignettes that include the Wizard of Oz\, King Neptune\, Liberace’s band\, and more! \nAll strings considered\, you’re knot going to find a collection of marionettes like this anywhere else!

DESCRIPTION:Join the Art Gallery of Peterborough for an opening reception to celebrate Antoine Mountain’s\, “Ets’ehch’I; Traditional Dene Burial Practices.” This exhibition is comprised of twenty-one paintings that share depictions taken from stories\, beliefs\, and traditions as an epistemological tool of Dene resurgence. \nFor this special event\, these works will be installed in the Main Gallery. “Ets’ehch’I; Traditional Dene Burial Practices” will remain on view in the upper ramps from Wednesday\, March 30 to June 30\, 2024. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
