His first official Comedy Album\, #PUEGILIST – debuted at #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts. \nRob has appeared on Comedy Central\, MTV’s Punk’d and had his own Comedy Now special on The Comedy Network. He is also a regular on CBC’s Debaters\, Just For Laughs\, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival\, and Halifax Comedy Festival. \nRob is also a winner of the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition – with past winners including Dana Carvey\, and runner ups including Robin Williams\, Ellen DeGeneres. \nRob will be joined by a cast of fellow acts from television\, radio and Just For Laughs.

SUMMARY:Romantic Flames - Peterborough Symphony Orchestra Concert
DESCRIPTION:Two of the most iconic romantic pieces. Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8 is one of his most beloved works\, steeped in Czech folk rhythms and yearning melodies. Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto is a show-stopper of pianistic and orchestral fire-works\, made famous through the movie “Shine”. The PSO will be joined by one of Canada’s foremost piano virtuosos and one of Peterborough’s great friends\, David Jalbert. \nTo open the concert\, we perform Andrew Balfour’s “Pyotr’s Dream”\, influenced by the music of Tchaikovsky.

If that were the case\, you could try looking under\, rock\, pop\, folk\, world or even classical. \nHis own self-described musical A.D.D. has kept his music fresh for decades. Maybe it has something to do with being born next to a candy factory\, or his ambidextrous brain\, but his thoughtful lyrics & charming performances have earned a devoted fan base\, multiple nominations for Junos\, The Polaris Prize\, CBC’s “Heart Of Gold”\, and most recently winning the CFMA’s “Producer of the year” and “Oliver Schroder Pushing the Boundaries” Awards. \nBut Danny considers his career highlights to be the unique real life moments like performing for Jane Goodall’s 85th birthday party\, touring with Stuart Mclean and working with charities close to his heart. \nSteve Poltz \nIt might’ve even been last night\, but Steve Poltz just played the greatest show of his life. Guess what? \nThe next show will be even greater\, making that show the greatest show of his life. \nAre you starting to notice a trend? \nHe isn’t shy about it either. \nEven after most likely thousands of shows (but who’s counting?)\, he hits the stage with the same amount of energy and always makes sure to declare\, “This is the greatest show of my life.” \nIt’s why he’s quietly emerged as the kind of live phenomenon celebrated passionately by a diehard fanbase worldwide and renowned as a festival favorite everywhere from Bluesfest in Byron Bay and High Sierra Music Festival in California and Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado to Cayamo Cruise (where he actually got married). It’s why his music has crept into pop culture via collaborations with everyone from Jewel and Billy Strings to Molly Tuttle\, Sierra Hull\, Nicki Bluhm\, Oliver Wood\, and even the late Mojo Nixon. This past spring\, you may have experienced Johann Sebastian Bach’s towering masterpiece\, the Matthaüs-Passion\, or St. Matthew Passion. J.S. Bach was born March 31\, 1685 and several of his children became composers too. Lesser known\, but equally talented was Italian Domenico Scarlatti (October 26\, 1685)\, part of a musical family who contributed greatly to music mostly for the keyboard as he worked in the service of Portuguese and Spanish royal families. Before both of these fellows\, born March 5\, 1685 in Brandenburg-Prussia\, was George Frideric Handel. He became a naturalized British subject (to German-born royals) where he composed many operas and oratorios\, among other works\, and famously penned The Messiah in 1742. That’s three composers whose music transcends time and moves listeners as much in their own time as it does now.
