Located in the North Kawarthas\, many of the studios are tucked away in beautiful\, scenic locations where our local artists and guests present new and exciting works created specifically for this annual event. \nFrom the molten heat of the glass furnaces to the cool\, smooth feel of carved stone and all points in between\, our self-guided tour is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists in person. \nThis year’s tour includes 12 studio locations presenting 29 artists and artisans whose work encompasses a wide spectrum within the disciplines of painting\, jewellery\, glass art\, sculpture\, fabric art\, pottery\, felting\, and metalwork. \nImmerse yourself in a weekend of interesting and engaging art set against a backdrop of beautiful fall colour. SUMMARY:Celebration of Public Sculpture at Trent University
DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to attend a free public event at Trent University that celebrates the stunning collection of sculptures on the Symons campus\, some of which are designated by Heritage Canada as of national significance. The Public Sculpture Initiative celebration will include presentations from artists David James (Portal) and André Fournelle (La Porte d’Or)\, as well as Dr. Jessica Becking\, principal of Otonabee College. Following the presentations\, participants will be invited to join a walking tour to see 11 sculptures including the nationally significant pieces: This Column Ends by artist Shayne Dark\, a bronze bust of former Trent chancellor and author Margaret Laurence by artist Almuth Lütkenhaus\, and two stunning pieces entitled Portal by David James ’68.

DESCRIPTION:The season of Yule\, originally a twelve-day festival marking the winter solstice and celebrated by northern European peoples\, has given us many traditions we still share worldwide at Christmas: the tree\, wreaths\, feasting\, and gathering with family and friends to celebrate a significant event in the year. Of course\, music is a significant part of any celebration. This season of emergence from dark\, difficult times into the light\, of giving and receiving\, of love and family\, has inspired many writers and composers for over a thousand years. The Peterborough Singers continue their tradition of initiating the season with various choral selections\, along with the mighty organ and brass\, and with a chance\, for you to sing along and get into the spirit of Yuletide Cheer! \nWith guests ‘Venabrass’ brass quintet.
