We’re heading to Market Hall Performing Arts Centre on Friday November 1 in benefit of urgently needed funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough. \nHeadliner Rob Pue: \nIn 30 years\, Rob has done it all. His first official Comedy Album\, #PUEGILIST – debuted at #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts. \nRob has appeared on Comedy Central\, MTV’s Punk’d and had his own Comedy Now special on The Comedy Network. He is also a regular on CBC’s Debaters\, Just For Laughs\, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival\, and Halifax Comedy Festival. \nRob is also a winner of the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition – with past winners including Dana Carvey\, and runner ups including Robin Williams\, Ellen DeGeneres. \nRob will be joined by a cast of fellow acts from television\, radio and Just For Laughs.

SUMMARY:Romantic Flames - Peterborough Symphony Orchestra Concert
DESCRIPTION:Two of the most iconic romantic pieces. Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8 is one of his most beloved works\, steeped in Czech folk rhythms and yearning melodies. Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto is a show-stopper of pianistic and orchestral fire-works\, made famous through the movie “Shine”. The PSO will be joined by one of Canada’s foremost piano virtuosos and one of Peterborough’s great friends\, David Jalbert. \nTo open the concert\, we perform Andrew Balfour’s “Pyotr’s Dream”\, influenced by the music of Tchaikovsky.

DESCRIPTION:Danny Michel\n\nThe only good thing about not shopping in record stores anymore is you won’t have to figure out what genre to look for Danny under. If that were the case\, you could try looking under\, rock\, pop\, folk\, world or even classical. \nHis own self-described musical A.D.D. has kept his music fresh for decades. Maybe it has something to do with being born next to a candy factory\, or his ambidextrous brain\, but his thoughtful lyrics & charming performances have earned a devoted fan base\, multiple nominations for Junos\, The Polaris Prize\, CBC’s “Heart Of Gold”\, and most recently winning the CFMA’s “Producer of the year” and “Oliver Schroder Pushing the Boundaries” Awards. \nBut Danny considers his career highlights to be the unique real life moments like performing for Jane Goodall’s 85th birthday party\, touring with Stuart Mclean and working with charities close to his heart. \nSteve Poltz \nIt might’ve even been last night\, but Steve Poltz just played the greatest show of his life. Guess what? \nThe next show will be even greater\, making that show the greatest show of his life. \nAre you starting to notice a trend? \nHe isn’t shy about it either. \nEven after most likely thousands of shows (but who’s counting?)\, he hits the stage with the same amount of energy and always makes sure to declare\, “This is the greatest show of my life.” \nIt’s why he’s quietly emerged as the kind of live phenomenon celebrated passionately by a diehard fanbase worldwide and renowned as a festival favorite everywhere from Bluesfest in Byron Bay and High Sierra Music Festival in California and Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado to Cayamo Cruise (where he actually got married). It’s why his music has crept into pop culture via collaborations with everyone from Jewel and Billy Strings to Molly Tuttle\, Sierra Hull\, Nicki Bluhm\, Oliver Wood\, and even the late Mojo Nixon.
