SUMMARY:The Magic of Mosaics: An Exploration of Colour and Form
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the landscape and native species that flourish at Rice Lake Arts\, in this workshop you will create a bold mosaic using coloured glass\, that is glued and grouted onto wooden panels. We will explore the grounds at Rice Lake Arts\, while you take a series of photos and do some sketching to help you create your unique mosaic design. If you love working with colour and you’d like to try out an ancient technique with modern materials\, join us for this fun 2 day workshop. \nNikki welcomes all creative individuals over the age of 13 years to this exciting workshop. Come spend the weekend exploring the beauty of glass with a friend\, a sibling\, a family member or group. \nThis event runs Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm\, and Sunday 10:00am – 1:00pm.

In the 1820s\, Peter Robinson led an emigration scheme that brought hundreds of Irish families to Canada as they fled famine and poverty. More than 2\,000 arrived in Scotts Plains—later known as Peterborough—and began their lives anew. “Wild Irish Geese” reflects on the courage\, displacement\, and enduring spirit of those who journeyed far to survive. Through hardship and hope\, these new Canadians forged a fragile beginning in a complex colonial landscape. SUMMARY:Peterborough Musicfest – David Wilcox (Main Stage) & James N. Wilson (Future Sound Series)
DESCRIPTION:A superb entertainer\, master guitarist\, with his signature soulful voice\, David Wilcox has inhabited the Canadian musical landscape for decades with his blend of rock\, blues\, country\, ragtime and other roots styles and will be treating the Musicfest stage to his unique brand of Canadiana. \nOver his career he has amassed multiple gold and platinum albums and countless fans of several generations. His music has been skated to by Olympic champions Salé and Pelletier\, his songs have appeared in movies like Cocktail with Tom Cruise. Whether it’s a backyard barbeque\, a TV theme (Street Legal)\, Carnegie Hall\, the Montreux Jazz Festival with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin\, his sound is ubiquitous and wholly Canadian. Until you see him live\, you don’t know what you are missing. Lucky for us\, he will be performing at Del Crary Park Saturday\, August 8th. \nDavid Wilcox performed on the Fred Anderson Stage at Peterborough Musicfest in 1999 and again in 2024\, and he’s back for more. \nPeterborough Musicfest is one of Canada’s longest-running free admission music festival and a highlight of the summer season for visitors exploring Peterborough County and the Kawarthas. The series takes place at Del Crary Park on the shores of Little Lake\, offering a scenic waterfront setting for live music under the stars. \nHeld every Wednesday and Saturday evening from late June to mid August\, Peterborough Musicfest features a dynamic mix of Canadian and international artists across genres including rock\, pop\, country\, indie\, folk\, and roots.
