DESCRIPTION:“We call it Feeding the Fire\,” Uncle quietly offers…\nThe Mountain Dene are naturally of a world apart\, in its way separate from our usual worldly cares and woes.\nTo keep it alive is an education in itself. – Antoine Mountain \n“Ets’ehch’I; Traditional Dene Burial Practices” is comprised of twenty-one paintings by Dene artist\, Antoine Mountain\, that share depictions taken from stories\, beliefs\, and traditions as an epistemological tool of Dene resurgence. \nAntoine Mountain is Dene\, North American First Nations\, originally from Radelie Koe/Fort Good Hope\, of the Dene Nation\, in northern Canada. His hometown is just a few miles from the Arctic Circle. In addition to his writing and scholarship\, Mountain is a painter primarily working in acrylics across a number of styles with Impressionist influence. The colours of the North and deep-rooted spiritualism inform his approach to depicting landscape\, portraits\, and figurative scenes.

SUMMARY:Stan Olthuis | Interconnected
DESCRIPTION:Interconnected is a solo exhibition of work by Stan Olthuis. Grounding the entire project is Mira la Vida\, a large-scale kinetic sculpture comprised of two eight-foot intersecting discs representing the elements of our world: water\, earth\, fire\, and air. \nStan Olthuis is a Canadian multi-disciplinary visual artist currently based in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. His work is driven by an ongoing curiosity of our relationship to the world around us. Often reinterpreting persistent symbolisms such as sacred geometry\, Olthuis explores spatial tension and interaction through abstract shapes and audience provocations powered by a colourful palette.

SUMMARY:Decades of Bond
DESCRIPTION:Decades of Bond is the Ultimate tribute to the incredible music of the James Bond Film Empire. This 13-piece show band is stacked with some of the finest musicians in North America including the fabulous Rebecca Noelle and Michael Hanna Sr on vocals. A powerhouse horn section and elegant string quartet soar gracefully over the driving rhythm section to deliver you some of the most remarkable music ever written for film! From ‘Thunderball’ to ‘Skyfall’ you’ll be captivated from the moment the curtain goes up. With a career spanning 15 years\, Rebecca Noelle has shared bills with artists such as B.B.King\, Johnny Winter\, Lynyrd Skynrd\, Buddy Guy\, Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt. She’s graced stages across the U.S.\, Canada\, the U.K.\, Asia\, Europe & even the North Pole. At the beginning of her career\, Rebecca Noellle was the backing vocalist for Canadian blues vet\, David Gogo. After some years as a support musician\, Rebecca recorded her debut solo album; “Rebecca Noelle: A Night at Maggie’s” – a classic jazz collection with her grandfather and mentor\, renowned pianist John Noubarian. \nMichael Hanna Sr enjoys the improvisational stylings of Jazz\, the freedom of the blues and the spiritual fire of Gospel. He has performed on stages across the U.S\, Canada and Japan. Michael currently enjoys collaborative work with first-class production at the National Gallery of Art and around town throughout the year. Michael has been recorded on several digital compilations including the ‘Right Words to Romance’ by Darold Gholdston\, ‘Have yourself a Jazzy little Christmas’ by John Dapaah\, ‘Michael Hanna Family and friends’ by Sir Roland Hanna and the soon to be re-released ‘Pete Foret Project’. In addition to his singing\, Michael manages RMI Publishing\, developed to promote the over 300 compostions of his father; the late Sir Roland Hanna. \nDecades of Bond is an ‘Ed Lister Music’ production. Ed Lister is a Juno Award winning Trumpeter\, Composer\, Arranger and Educator from London\, England. Now residing is Ottawa\, Ed runs numerous prodctions and ensembles. All arrangements and orchestration for ‘Decades of Bond’ are by Ed.
