DESCRIPTION:“We call it Feeding the Fire\,” Uncle quietly offers…\nThe Mountain Dene are naturally of a world apart\, in its way separate from our usual worldly cares and woes.\nTo keep it alive is an education in itself. – Antoine Mountain \n“Ets’ehch’I; Traditional Dene Burial Practices” is comprised of twenty-one paintings by Dene artist\, Antoine Mountain\, that share depictions taken from stories\, beliefs\, and traditions as an epistemological tool of Dene resurgence. \nAntoine Mountain is Dene\, North American First Nations\, originally from Radelie Koe/Fort Good Hope\, of the Dene Nation\, in northern Canada. His hometown is just a few miles from the Arctic Circle. In addition to his writing and scholarship\, Mountain is a painter primarily working in acrylics across a number of styles with Impressionist influence. The colours of the North and deep-rooted spiritualism inform his approach to depicting landscape\, portraits\, and figurative scenes.

Enjoy local snacks\, a heart warming meal and dessert. \nThis experience is for beginner level hikers all the way to experienced. Please let us know about any food allergies upon booking. Our menu is a surprise to add to the intimacy of the adventure and is influenced by seasonal ingredients. \nNot all Lunch In The Woods experiences involve cooking over the fire. On protected land we love to use lightweight back country cooking equipment. We are passionate about respectfully using the land. \nEvery adventure is unique to the next. This is what makes booking with us so special and it’s the reason that we continue to be inspired by this signature experience. \nYou will receive an email approximately one week before your booking date with a detailed breakdown of the day and a weather update. We operate rain or shine (so long as there is no thunder/lightning). In this case\, we will reschedule for a different date. \nDepending on the location\, there may be extra parking fees that are not covered. We often utilize public and protected land\, but some excursions happen at provincial parks where there are day pass fees. We will give our guests a heads up on the experience update email if/ when parking will be an additional cost.
