SUMMARY:To Honour and Respect: Gifts from the Michi Saagiig Women to the Prince of Wales\, 1860
DESCRIPTION:In April 2023\, quilled birch bark makaks made by women of Rice Lake Village (now Hiawatha First\nNation) will arrive at the Peterborough Museum & Archives (PMA) for an extended loan visit from the\nRoyal Collection Trust in England\, where they have been cared for since they were given to the young\nPrince of Wales in 1860. The makaks will be exhibited and will be the focus of activities: workshops on\nquillwork\, Michi Saagiig Anishnaabemowin\, special tours of the exhibit\, and some visits in which\nparticipants will be able to gently touch them. \nDr Lori Beavis (Hiawatha) and Dr Laura Peers curate the To Honour and Respect project\, with a Planning\nCircle including Gimaakwe Laurie Carr (Hiawatha)\, Kim Muskratt (Hiawatha)\, Veronica King-Jamieson\n(Mississaugas of the Credit) and others. The project is funded by the Museum Assistance Program\n(Department of Canadian Heritage)\, Canada Council for the Arts\, the Ontario Arts Council\, and Hiawatha\nFirst Nation\, with in-kind contributions by the City of Peterborough and the Peterborough Museum &\nArchives\, whose staff will care for the makaks during their visit. The Royal Collection Trust is lending the makaks.

DESCRIPTION:SLEDARAMA Snowmobile Show\, Swap Meet and Show & Shine has become Peterborough’s largest consumer trade show\, and it’s known for its famous Swap Meet and Show & Shine. The last of it’s kind; the Peterborough Sledarama Show is a grassroots of snowmobiling gathering\, a one-day Snowmobile event on Sunday November 19\, 2023. \nTake your time walking the show from building to building filled with snowmobiles\, ATVs\, side-by-sides\, clothing\, gear\, parts\, accessories\, trailers\, tourism\, ATV and snowmobile clubs and OFSC snowmobile districts. \nTucked away between the two exhibitor buildings is the famous snowmobile swap meet. The swap attracts swappers from all over Ontario\, Quebec and even New Brunswick making it one of the largest in Canada\, if not the largest!

DESCRIPTION:A Short Film Festival for Peterborough\, ON filmmakers \nThe first year of the Peterborough Shorts Showcase promises to be exciting. Featuring local filmmakers\, including those living in the area\, from the area\, or that have filmed in the Greater Peterborough Area. The festival will take place on Sunday\, November 19th at 2 PM at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre in Peterborough\, ON. The festival will be open to all ages however subject matter may not be appropriate for all ages. \nThis festival has been generously sponsored by a grant from the United Way Peterborough & Area. Further sponsorship has been provided by the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre. Because of the generous sponsorship\, 100% of ticket revenue will go towards prizes for the top films. Each ticket will be $6 + $4 in service fees. The service fees go towards paying the cost for box office set up and the cost of tickets. Of the $6 ticket price\, $3 will go to 1st place\, $2 will go to 2nd place and $1 will go to 3rd place.
