The 36th summer season of Peterborough Musicfest continues Saturday, July 8 at Del Crary Park with multi award-‐winning Canadian blues guitarist and singer/songwriter Matt Andersen fronting his band The Big Bottle of Joy.

The New Brunswick native embarked on his music career more than 20 years ago and has since headlined at major festivals, clubs and theatres across North America, and in Europe and Australia. Along the way, he has shared the stage with the likes of Buddy Guy, Greg Allman and Serena Ryder to name but a few.

Music industry acclaim has been frequent and noteworthy. After winning two East Coast Music Association Awards in 2009, Andersen brought home top honours from the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis – the first Canadian ever to do so. In 2013, and again in 2016, he won a European Blues Award for Best Solo/Acoustic Act. In addition, multiple Maple Blues Awards have come his way, and he has a Juno Award nomination to his credit.

Since self-‐releasing his debut album One Size Never Fits in 2004, Andersen hasn’t stopped writing and recording new music, amassing more 26 million YouTube streams and more than 23 million Spotify listens. His latest album, The Big Bottle of Joy, which he’s touring extensively across North American this year, features songs “infused with raw blues-‐rock, rollicking Americana, thoughtful folk and ecstatic gospel.”
Peterborough Musicfest is funded by corporate sponsorships – most of those being locally owned businesses – multiple levels of government support, fundraising initiatives and private donations and, as a result, has been, and steadfastly remains, a uniquely free admission event. Dallas Green, Our Lady Peace, Serena Ryder, Gordon Lightfoot, 54-‐40 and Blue Rodeo are just a few of the sensational music acts that have appeared over the years.
