  • THE Norwood Fall Fair

  • Posted by: Kelly Jessup on October 1, 2012
  • Fun at the fair, The Norwood Fall Fair, Peterborough & the Kawarthas, Ontario

Just east of Peterborough is a tiny place called Asphodel-Norwood – a quiet country township with a little under 4000 people…for the Village of Norwood, the annual fall fair is the epicenter of activities in the area.

The Norwood Fall Fair takes place Thanksgiving Weekend (October 6-8, 2012), and is a Thanksgiving tradition for many families, including mine.

Aside from the stunning fall colours you’ll find along the way, the fair itself is one of the best in Ontario with live music, an Ontario Xtreme Cowboy Competition, Antique Car Show and Tractor Pull, Horse Shows and Competitions, Animal Exhibits, Crops and Home Arts Competitions, Lawn Tractor Races (you have to see these things go!), Hot Diggity Dogs Flyball, a midway, a parade, and so (so so so) much more.

While you can’t bring your pets, there are plenty of animals to see, including Old MacDonald’s petting zoo and pony rides.  Admission is $10 daily (weekend passes are also available) and children 12 and under are free. The Fair is open from 9am-5:30pm each day (midway at 10:30am).

If you do one thing this weekend (aside from stuff yourself with turkey and pie), attend this great event – it may even become a new tradition for your family.

I’ll see you there with (cow) bells on!
