I was hoping there would be a list of community outdoor temporary rinks. i.ve seen this in other cities… i movedback her after 15 yrs with my children and the amount of public skating offered, free, outdoor.. well in general is quite disappointing. Also many cities like the one i recently moved from… Mississauga much with a community feel have a centraly located city run rink.., along with other locations as well. Free and great!

    • Cara Walsh – PK Tourism

      Hello Secret Citizen,

Thanks for your feedback. There are some rinks and temporary outdoor ice surfaces in the City of Peterborough. A popular spot is the Trent Canal south of the Peterborough Lift Lock. There are also ice surfaces around town including the Brinton Carpet Park at the intersection of Braidwood Avenue and Lock Street, and King Edward Park at the intersection of Aylmer and Princess Streets. To my knowledge these are maintained by members of the community, and not by the city.

We will do some research and update our post to include some additional information.

Hope you’re enjoying the winter weather!

We used to keep barn stuff from freezing by insulating a cabinet and
leaving a 40 watt light on. Similarly, at home, might it be possible to
set a lamp under a table with a floor length tablecloth as a low
      wattage/amp radiant heater?
