Whether you’re a local looking for fun things to do with the kids on summer vacation, or a visitor passing through Peterborough on your way to your favourite fishing lake with the family, or hunting camp with the guys, one of Peterborough’s newest must-see attractions is the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (OFAH) Mario Cortellucci Hunting & Fishing Heritage Centre.
Along with lots of great learning opportunities about conservation, wildlife displays of native Canadian animal species, vintage hunting decoys and fishing tackle, and invasive species, there is also great hands-on experiences – reel in a catch at their Shimano Fishing Pond, shoot a crossbow or an airgun in their new archery and airgun ranges.* You can also kick back, and relax in their air conditioned amphitheatre and explore our planet with the BBC documentary Planet Earth and Life playing throughout the day.
The OFAH Hunting & Fishing Heritage Centre is open 10am – 4pm, Mondays – Saturdays, all summer long (closed holiday Mondays). Stop by and explore an important Canadian tradition – it could be the start of a new pastime.
*OFAH Fishing Pond and Archery & Air Gun Ranges are available and require advanced booking. call Meribeth at 705-748.6324 ext.100.
