Peterborough Snofest Winter Carnival

January is full of winter celebrations. The Peterborough Snofest Winter Carnival kicks off it’s 40th Anniversary on January 7th and continues until January 30th. With such a wide variety of events including Snofest Discovery Day, Snofest Idol Contest, and Snofest Winter Carnival Day this event is guaranteed to help you enjoy the chilliest time of year.


The City of Peterborough isn’t the only place to have some fun this winter. The township of Selwyn brings you PolarFest in early February. This event invites you to join in a whole host of exciting activities. From speed skating, to ice carving, to pond hockey; this event truly celebrates all of the activities that make winter in Peterborough & the Kawarthas so special.

Family Ice Fishing Day

Have you ever wanted to try to your hand at ice fishing? On Family Day weekend the OFAH holds their Family Ice Fishing Day where you can experience ice fishing for free! Take the whole family out to their designated location and don’t worry about what to bring; fishing equipment and bait is provided for you.

Under the Lock Hockey Tournament

This tournament, held every year, is Canada’s only minor hockey sanctioned tournament played on a canal! Imagine taking in some hockey at the base of the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world!
