Township of Havelock Belmont Methuen

The township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen is a charming rural community located in the southeast corner of the County of Peterborough. It is nestled amidst many scenic lakes and rivers and offers a host of activities for outdoor enthusiasts and tourism accounts for a large part of the economy. The township has a little bit of everything, rural and urban, which makes it incredibly welcoming to permanent and seasonal residents, as well as to the large number of tourists that frequent the area. Outdoor enthusiasts, paddlers, campers, cyclists, and hikers are all drawn to the rugged outdoor opportunities.

When heading up to the cottage or campground, make sure to stop into the village of Havelock to pick up all of your weekend getaway essentials! A few key quick stops may include Havelock Foodland, The Beer Store, LCBO, Sam’s Place General Store and Marion’s Live Bait. If it’s a Saturday, stop in at the Havelock Farmers’ Market between 8:30am and 1:30pm to pick up some fresh local produce.

If you’re staying late in the region, head into Havelock for a night on the town then head on over to the Havelock Family Drive-In, movies begin at dusk, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am Tuesday – Sunday.

Summer is great time to visit this region as Havelock is home to a number of camping festivals. Not interested in camping? Don’t worry, these events also offer day passes if you only want to enjoy the festival for the day. The annual events that they host here are the Havelock Jamboree, featuring some of the greatest country music artists and which takes place in August. Previous artists have included top names such as Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry, Jess Moskaluke, Terri Clark and Chad Brownlee. It is also home to the Havelock RPM (Recreation & Performance Motor Show), which takes place in Mid-July. And new for 2016 was HaveRock Revival, which was the second weekend of July and featured artists such as George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Loverboy, Kim Mitchell and Sass Jordan. These weekends are one’s you won’t want to miss!
