Seasons on the Moraine
at South Pond Farms
South Pond Farms is offering an exciting new series of events from April to October – eight guided/interpreted nature walks on the Ballyduff Trails adjoining South Pond. The walks are designed to deepen understanding and increase appreciation of nature as it unfolds its marvels month by month here, on the edge of the Oak Ridges Moraine.
The walks are being led by eminent local naturalists – ecologists, geographers, botanists, authors and artists – all of whom have vast experience in interpretation. Each event will also feature a “farm-to-table” meal, which is the essence of South Pond Farms.
The Seasons on the Moraine events are not-for-profit. They are undertaken in collaboration with our neighbours, Jean and Ralph, and in cooperation with the Kawartha Land Trust which has been entrusted with the ongoing protection of their property. South Pond Farms is a strong supporter of the Kawartha Land Trust and of its mission.
April 22nd: Night Sounds – leader, Dan Bone
Pond, wetlands and forest come alive as spring peepers, trilling toads and wide-eyed owls break their winter silence. Event concludes with stone oven fireside supper.
