The Art of Autumn – Fall Drive

art of autumn

Begin your scenic autumn exploration by the lake at Harbour Town McCraken’s Landing. Make sure to bring your camera as you can rent a motorized boat and explore the 1,128 islands and incredible cottages. Have a bite to eat here as well at Lantern’s Restaurant & Grill, which offers seasonal and local meals overlooking Stoney Lake. This truly is art on a plate! Follow the lakeside route to Lockside Trading Company, where you can purchase a souvenir from this getaway or something for your home. Continue your artistic adventure at Gallery on the Lake, which offers an extensive collections of artwork by some of Canada’s leading and emerging artists.

Interested in a more natural type of artwork? Look no further than the beautifully built and restored canoes at Buckhorn Canoe Company. You can take a peek into their workshop, and if you have an interest, you can purchase your very own crafted canoe, kayak or paddle. They also offer canoe and kayak rentals so you can explore Mother Nature’s artwork, as the colourful leaves surround you. Autumn also brings some seasonal events, including the Harvest Craft Show at the Buckhorn Community Centre, the Kawarthas Autumn Studio Tour and the Apsley Autumn Studio Tour. All three offer something for those with an artistic eye. Finish your autumn art exploration at Whetung’s Ojibwa Centre, where works by Native and Non-Native crafters, as well as visual artists illustrate the impact of our cultural heritage.
